Options for Gay Men
Our first step is to schedule an initial consultation where we discuss your overall goals for creating a healthy family. This is the most important part of the process as it will dictate our medical approach moving forward.
The next step is for our gay intended parents to undergo a comprehensive workup that includes screens for infectious diseases and testing for recessive genetic disorders. In addition, we perform a semen analysis where we look at movement or mobility of the sperm, its concentration and the shape or morphology.
Once testing is done, the next step is to prepare the sperm. This is done by washing a semen sample to separate it from fluid content, mucous debris and non-motile sperm, which is then frozen. There is no difference in treatment outcomes between frozen and fresh sperm.
And finally, we create embryos with donor eggs that will be carried by a surrogate.
