Egg Freezing
Since the quality of a biological woman’s eggs dramatically declines after age 35, egg freezing is an option for those wishing to preserve their fertility for future family building. It is also an option for transmen who wish to preserve their eggs before fully transitioning.
The process starts with hormonal injections that stimulate the ovaries to produce eggs. Once mature, the eggs are retrieved under intravenous sedation. Most women only experience minor discomfort during this procedure.
The eggs can then be frozen indefinitely with no known associated risks to their health.
